Early Saturday. Arrive. Pick up VIP pass (sweeeet! thanks pitchfork), get introduced to free BEER and free Chipotle burritos! Consume both. Burrito count #1.

Califone are cutting through the heat and the breeze to sound really impressive.  Voxtrot were really solid, just as expected.  Off to Grizzly Bear (see below as security braces for the ensuing mosh pit - yup, that's a bad joke.)

Here we are watching Grizzly Bear from the side of the stage - right behind Mr. & Mrs. Bear (no joke) and we could go on with endless proud Papa Bear jokes, but we won't. Chicago Innerview said, "Grizzly Bear is all about ambience," and it's great to see them performing among nature - and tons of sweaty, dirty indie kids.

Moving around stages we caught Battles (for the first time) which was awesome and some of Fujiya & Miyagi, though we wish the sound at the Balance stage was a lot louder.  Following them up, Professor Murder still at the too smooshed balance stage - we opted to view from the side (see below). Regardless of any sound issues, PMurder never has a problem getting the crowd to party.

Yeah, so we didn't exactly move from our spot for Oxford Collapse. Chicago Innerview, "Being from New York, a habitual comparison to dance-punk surfaces, but maybe it's not about the dancing so much as it's about conveying good music and generating a positive response to it. Abiding by its own rules is somethinig that this band has learned to do quite well."

At this point, with Dan Deacon and Girl Talk coming up, the Balance stage was overflowing. We headed off and cut in line with newly found friends in the the huge burrito line (Count #2) and left before Yoko Ono to avoid massive crowds at the El Train. Because we had more plans for that nite.

Saturdaly , late nite @ The Hideout w/ Oxford Collapse followed by King Opression (3/4 PMurder). This place is AWESOME!

Sunday Hanging out with Tornto Ben again servicing him with free Beer and Burritos from VIP. Better get something for the girlfriend, eh? Wait, did Morrissey actually play that show!?!

Besides all the 12-16 year old indie rock fans, which was great to see out and about - consuming shirts and buttons and maybe even some CDs, there were seriously a ton of TOTS running around the festival. This guy was our favorite. Bottle in right hand, beer in left.

Sunday, Cadence Weapon followed Chicago own up-coming hip hop duo Cool Kids with some hip hop. Cadence Weapon's DJ was tearing it up. Apparently Pitchfork commissioned some mash ups - we heard - check out the Cadence, PMurder "Free Shark Test."(The best mash up btw, was Grizzly Bear/ Clipse sharing a trailer!)

Alright, we a bunch more free burritos - though nowhere near as many a crew member we met on #9!
Sunday night - going strong watching the Klaxons.

After 2 days of port-a-potties. We were glad to visit the Double Door Monday night to see Monsters Are Waiting and Maximo Park.

If you want to see good pictures from the festival and more coverage, go here, obviously!

We visited Reckless Records and found this amazing shout out for A Good Ground in Time Out Chicago!

Thanks to Jo-isa and Bom for taking care of Toby & H while we were in Chicago!
