Blushing shares Blame featuring Miki Berenyi and announces new album "Possessions" for February 18

"Collaboration made in dream pop heaven" KEXP

Austin, Texas’, Blushing announces their signing to Kanine Records, and shares the lead-off single “Blame” from upcoming album Possessions (due February 18th, 2022). The track is an immersive reintroduction to Blushing’s heavy brand of dream pop and harnesses a veritable who’s who of established and upcoming shoegaze scenesters; most notably in the distinctive vocals of Miki Berenyi from Brit legends Lush. This testament to trans-atlantic mutual appreciation began when Blushing covered “Out Of Control” for a Lush tribute album in 2018, catching the ear of Berenyi, who tweeted her appreciation, and a friendship was born. As the tracking sessions for Possessions took place throughout 2020, the band approached Berenyi about the possibility of her collaborating on a song and were thrilled to find that she shared their excitement to work together. The track and lyric sheet were digitally whisked off to London with the request that Berenyi add any vocals she would like. What she returned was a beautifully creative melding of harmonies and counter melodies that takes the original song into striking new territory.

“Blame” also sees Blushing reunite with fellow Austinite Elliott Frazier, of Ringo Deathstarr, who produced their self-titled debut album (Wallflower Records, 2019) and returns for Possessions. The final audio sparkle comes courtesy of Ride’s Mark Gardener, who mastered the album at his OX4 Studios in the UK.

The track is accompanied by a trippy visual that presents the viewer with a set of seemingly opposing realities leaving them to question what’s really going on, hence the repeating lyric "stick around, find out."
